The risk of high-rise fires deaths in the US has dropped in buildings which are equipped with an automatic fire sprinkler system. Older units which do not have fire sprinkler systems are at a significantly higher risk.
Improving the post-construction installation of fire sprinkler systems for older units can help further reduce the number of high-rise fire deaths.
